Hello. My name is Akane. I was born and raised in Kanagawa, Japan, and have studied and worked in the UK and the US for 3 years. I am fluent in both Japanese and English and speak a little bit of Burmese. I have MA in International Educational Development from Teachers College Columbia University, and have an experience in designing and leading programs regarding peace, human rights and multilingual education.

While in NY, I had 1 year experience of teaching bilingual preschoolers (4-5 years old), and also worked with children ages 2-10 in after-school programs and as a sitter. I also have 1-year volunteer experience working with children of various ages in my neighborhood, and 1.5 years of experience teaching English and Japanese as a tutor for Japanese elementary to high school students. Also, I have taught basic to advanced levels of Japanese for children to adults in both Japan and Myanmar for 2 years in total.

I love playing outdoors, music, arts & crafts, reading and baking with children, and love cleaning! I enjoy learning different cultures and languages, and currently exploring French, Turkish and Burmese.

I strive to connect with children as their friend and cherish their curiosity to explore the world.

こんにちは、あかねと申します。神奈川県で生まれ育ちました。日本語、英語、簡単なミャンマー語が話せます。アメリカとイギリスで計3年間の留学と就業の経験があります。コロンビア大学教育大学院修士課程で、国際教育開発学を学びました。平和、人権教育、多言語教育に関して、プログラムやカリキュラム設計の経験があります。

ニューヨークのバイリンガルスクールで、1年間、4-5歳クラスの担当をしていた経験と、アフタースクールプログラムや、シッターとして、2歳−10歳のお子さんを見たことがあります。他にも、近所でボランティアとして様々な年齢の子どもたちと関わった経験が1年間、日本の小学生〜高校生対象の英語、国語の塾講師を1年半、ミャンマーと日本で合計2年間、外国人向けに日本語を教えた経験もあります。お子さんの宿題や勉強を楽しくサポートできます。

子供と一緒に、音楽、アート工作やお菓子作り、本読み、外で遊ぶことが大好きです。また、新しい文化や言語に触れるのが好きで、現在は、フランス語、トルコ語、ミャンマー語（ビルマ語）を勉強しています。掃除も趣味の一つです。

子どもたちにとって少し大きな友達として関わり、彼らの「やってみたい」「知りたい」を大切にすることを心がけています。
