It's spooky season in Tokyo! Does your family have plans for Halloween yet?

There are always lots of fun festivals and events to choose from, whether you enjoy a costumed parade or light show. See below for our favorite family-friendly Halloween events in and around Tokyo!

Tokyo Disneyland
now - Oct. 31
Why wait until October to celebrate Halloween? At Tokyo Disneyland, you can enjoy themed parades (complete with skeletons and Jack O' Lanterns on the floats!) and fireworks every day between now and October 31. You can also don Disney character costumes and enjoy holiday-appropriate decorations throughout the park (including a "Nightmare Before Christmas" theme for the Haunted Mansion ride). Similar to Disneyland, DisneySea will have lots of opportunities to get in the spirit! Enjoy limited edition treats and souvenirs at both parks, as well.

Grand Hyatt Halloween Celebration
Oct. 1 - Oct. 31
Whether you're looking to spend a spooky evening out for date night, need fun and unique omiyage, or just want to stock up on sweet treats for the family, the Grand Hyatt Halloween Celebration has you covered. Enjoy a seasonal steak dinner at the Oak Door or ghost-shaped cookies from Florentina Pastry Boutique.

Halloween Night at Shinrin Park
Oct. 21-23, Oct. 28 - 30
Take an overnight trip to the mountains of Saitama prefecture for this unique Halloween display! Halloween-inspired artwork will be illuminated around Shinrin park on the last two weekends of October. The park is also filled with lots of fun daytime activities, including a giant trampoline and plenty of playground space, making it a great place to spend a day or so with your family after you've enjoyed the light show.

Kichijoji Halloween Festa 2022
Oct. 26 - Oct. 30
While the event is still expected to be a pared-down version of its pre-COVID self, it's sure to still be a great time for the whole family! This event in particular is focused on children, with lots of adorable little ones in cute costumes and trick-or-treating at local businesses.

Sanrio Puroland Halloween
Now - Nov. 1
Join Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel for a live show filled with Halloween hijinks. There will also be a special Halloween-themed illumination, complete with "magical" wands that light up in time with the music, making this one of the most kawaii Halloween events for your family!

Roppongi Hills Halloween

Oct. 29

Unfortunately, the live parade (which usually has thousands of adorable, costumed participants) is still canceled this year due to health concerns. But your family can still participate in a mobile stamp rally! Dress up kids under 12 and head to this shopping mecca, where three or more stamps scores some sweets.

Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Festival

Oct. 29 & 30

Whether your family wants to show off your cosplay costumes or just enjoy the amazing array on display, this event is usually a break from the ghouls and gourds of most Halloween festivities. You'll see plenty of people as your favorite game characters and more than a few you've never seen before. Watching is free; there's a fee to participate.

Omotesando/Harajuku Hello Halloween Pumpkin Parade

Oct. 30

This event is back after several cancellations during COVID. The scaled-down parade requires registration to participate, but it's sure to be a fun event for the whole family. Children under 12 can march in the parade and hit up Harajuku shops for candies and Halloween-themed menu items.
