Book More Jobs: Adjust Your Schedule for Busy Seasons
One of the great things about working with CareFinder is the freedom and flexibility sitters have in setting their own calendars. Maybe you have classes or other responsibilities that you need to schedule around; with CareFinder, the jobs you accept are entirely up to you!
While some people work on CareFinder as a supplement to a job they work elsewhere, it is an amazing platform if you want babysitting to be your main source of income. Most sitting jobs in the CareFinder community pay much more than the hourly wage in Japan, so you can earn more in less time doing what most would consider an enjoyable job.
If you're interested in increasing your earnings while working with CareFinder, one of the easiest ways to get more jobs is to take a proactive approach to your schedule. Babysitters are in-demand all year long, all over the country, but there are seasons the CareFinder Team has identified as especially busy for sitters.
If you're able to coordinate your schedule in advance, you ensure that you're available to take on the many jobs that will be posted during:
Spring Break (April): Not only are schools closed, making family travel from Japan and abroad much easier, but these breaks may also coincide with hanami. And even when the cherry blossoms have come and gone, the mild weather makes this an ideal time for tourists.
Summer Vacation (July & August): Pretty straightforward! When kids are out of school, families travel. They're looking for sitters to help them wrangle their children while enjoying tourist destinations and to provide childcare while parents enjoy Japan's nightlife.
Fall Foliage (October & November): Hakone, Kyoto and Nara are prime destinations for leaf lovers from near and far. Plenty of Japanese families will make the trek over a weekend for a nice visit and tourists from abroad are understandably interested in trips to Japan during this mild, beautiful time of year.
Winter Holidays (December): Similarly to the other busy seasons, the winter holidays also present an opportunity for families with children out of school to travel. Hokkaido and Niseko are popular destinations for winter-sport lovers, and, because many babysitters also take the opportunity during this time to travel home, there is less competition for the many jobs posted.
