Babysitter of the Month: Deepti

This month, we'd like to introduce you to Deepti!
Deepti moved from India to Japan to pursue her Master's degree. She is bilingual in English and Hindi and have also began studying Japanese.
Deepti has over 10 years of experience working with children from newborns to age 15. From a young age, Deepti looked after her newborn nephews doing everything from feeding and bathing them to playing and at times even tutoring them until they were about 8 years old. With a strong passion for caring for children, Deepti also has experience working as a counselor for children between the ages of 9 and 18 in a school. There, she listened to the children's problems and provided them with guidance on all kinds of issues.
Deepti loves sharing her hobby of playing the drums with the children she works with. She believes in actively engaging children through music, story telling, sports, nature walks and crafts as these activities help them find their passions and help them develop into individuals.
Families who have worked with Deepti describe her as warm, caring and a reliable babysitter. She comes highly recommended not only as a babysitter but also as an English tutor for her patience and ability to accurately measure her student's abilities and select the appropriate learning materials.
We asked Deepti to answer a few questions to get to know her better:
What drew you to babysitting?
I love being with kids. I was drawn to their innocence and seeking spirit to always learn.
What do you like best about babysitting?
I get to meet different families and babies, which is very exciting to me. Each child offers a uniqueness which greatly enriches my life.
What do you find most challenging about babysitting?
I find the commute a challenge since many of the families live far from my house.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love to go for walks in nature or read philosophical books.
In what ways have working with kids impacted your life?
I have become much more cheerful, patient and calm from working with kids. For example, I am currently babysitting and teaching English to a 6-year-old girl. Working with her twice a week has brought me so much compassion and care in my life, even for people that I have just met or see infrequently.
Do you have any fond memories or stories from babysitting?
I remember the grandmother of the girl whom I babysat; she used to make dinner for her granddaughter and offer it to me as well. Experiencing the compassion of this Japanese woman had a large impact on my own life. She influenced me to love Japanese food so much that I even learned how to cook it myself.
What do you like about working on CareFinder?
